    Drain Problems
    Hello,

I have a couple of issues going on. Let me start from the beginning.

I bought a house a little over a year back which has a crawl space. We were having issues with the drain "plugging" which I soon found out was not the drain actually plugging. The toilet would get flushed and come up the tub, and the toilet would fill up and not flush down anymore yada yada, you've heard this all before. I snaked the main line, nothing inside. I noticed I had several leaks in the pipes coming from the tub and toilet. After several times of going down and fixing multiple leaks I fixed them all.

Suddenly we started having issues again much the same. I found another leak from the toilet seal. I replaced this. Still having issues, OK... so I began digging where a bush of decent size was located where my main comes out. I pulled the bush out and found a hole in my pipe and to my pleasant surprise the pipe is that junk orangeburg pipe. I got a piece of rubbed, clamp, and some soil pipe sealant and fixed the hole. Sort of worked fine for week or two and began acting up again. The toilet would sometimes not flush all the way and when taking a shower the toilet would bubble and lose all water from the bowl. So I thought well, Let me check the vent. I went up on the roof and snaked the vent and it seemed as if something was inside clogging it up. So I read I could use a garden hose and water to clear it out.

I did just that. It became worse... That lead me to believe it was time to replace the orangeburge pipe. Not I need to wait a couple weeks to get some people out to help me dig so I can get it done quick. In the meantime I took a shower and noticed that the toilet would bubble for quite some time and the tub was draining fine then all of a sudden about 2 minutes before I was done the toilet would stop bubbling and my tub would start filling with water. This sounds to me like the gas has nowhere to escape and my vent is still clogged because everything drains as it should until the gas stops coming from the tub. Any suggestions? Does that sound like a good possibility?

Sorry for the book... it's been an adventure to say the least.

Replace the Orangeburg with PVC. Snake the vent with a sewer snake not a garden hose. Put out enough snake to reach the base and 15 feet more. Now pull the toilet and snake the line from there. You have major issues that should be addressed one by one. Good luck, Tom
