Connecting Remote to Hampton Bay fan with light kit
I brought a remote control for a fan that doesn't come with remote control.

I have 2 wire (white and black wire) from transmitter to connect to AC power, but my room has been prewired for light and fan, therefore there is 3 wire white, red and black.
I connected the black to the black and white to white of the tranmitter and capped off the red wire. But my fan doesn't seem to work, I also check code on both transmitter and receiver. Please let me know how do I go about getting it to work.

    Thanks

You have the other end of the transmitter (receiver, actually) hooked to the fan motor?

Try connecting it to the red wire and capping off the black.

I have already hooked the other end of the receiver to the motor
    Black to black
    Red to red
    Blue to blue
I hooked up the black wire to the red as you have mentioned and capped of the black, but it doesn't seem to work.
Please help me on this, any help is appreciated. Thanks!

No on the top mentioned is wrong I meant
    Black to black
    White to white
    Blue to blue
But I have one extra wire from the ceiling, after connecting white to white, black to black of the receiver, the red I capped but doesn't work, I capped the black doesn't work, I capped the white itself doesn't work.

Ok, let's first try hooking up the fan without the remote control, for troubleshooting purposes. Hook the fan black to ceiling black, fan blue to ceiling red, fan white to ceiling white. Does it work?

I got it working, actually I thought the connection was wrong but it was the remote controller. I had two remote control I change the remote with unused one and it worked with the same connection. I got it exchanged and used it for another fan works.

    Thanks for you help.
