Water leak from shower control panel
Went on holiday in Feb and turned off stopcock. When away Yorkshire water did work along the road and had water off 3 times. When we returned and switched on stopcock, our shower started leaking fron the controls (not the shower head) and has dripped since until we got seals replaced. What should we do next winter holiday. Switch off the stopcock or leave it on. Would it have happened if we had not switched off the stopcock. Hope you can help.

    Hi David

You do the same thing next year because as awful as it is to have a repair issue you could have had a major flood instead, so I think you stay with the lesser of all the evils here!

In fact, the issue you really had here was an issue of the plumbing/seals sitting for so long and they dried up and caused the problem. If someone had come in every couple weeks and turned water on and used the fixtures for a minute or so each the issue may not have happened at all.

Anyway, I'd keep turning the main water supply off.
