    First Year H1B Taxes
    Hello,
My husband and I entered the US on September 23, 2006.

I have the H1B visa and my husband is H4.

I started to work on October 3, 2006.

Could you advise me please what form should I use to file the tax refund?
I prefer to file a joint married tax refund?

We also have some job-related relocation/moving expenses we'd like to deduct? Is it possible to do so under the first year choice statement?
What will happen if we'll file a 1040?

What are our deadlines for the filings: is it April 15 or we can submit later?

Thank you very much in advance,
    Dana

    Dana:

You CAN file jointly under First Year Choice, but you must wait until late May 2007 to file.

You can claim the Moving Expenses using Form 3903 and Form 1040.

File Form 4868 to extend the filing deadline. If you think you will owe, send a check with the Form 4868.
