    Swollen legs
My dad is 67 yrs old, approx. 300 lbs and has been experiencing very swollen ankles and lower legs. It started when he began falling asleep in a chair and his legs weren't elevated. His one leg feels warm to the touch and is causing him a lot of pain. I can't get him to go to the doctor. Do you think this sounds serious and that he needs medical attention? If so, any suggestions on convincing him to go? Thank you!

He needs to elevate his legs in a recliner or with a hassock that's higher than his butt. Does he take diuretics? Is the swelling less in the morning after he's been flat in bed?

His weight and whatever is going on demand that he visit a doctor. It isn't something that you can fix.

He does not take diuretics and is usually swollen in the mornings.
