What to do if I was claimed on taxes illegally
I put in my taxes electronically with my wife but then we get a call saying I was already claiming myself as single and now they are saying it would take 6 months. To a year to get my taxes. What I want to know is what steps do I take to get that person and keep this from happening again?

There are no steps for you to take to "get that person." The IRS will sort it out, and unfortunately it will take time to get it sorted out. In the mean time - I assume your electronic tax filing was rejected since the computers think that "you" had already filed - so have you filed a paper return?

ebaines has it right. You are not alone in this problem, so the IRS WILL require some time to get it fixed.

You should adjust your Form W-4 to reduce your withholding so the refund will not be so large, because it is likely you will have the same problem NEXT year.
