My last period ended on march 30th. I began taking the birth control ortho-cyclen on April 12th, and today is the 5th day of my placebo pill week. I have still not started my period. I am sexually active but always use a condom, and I took a pregnancy test last night that came out negative. What in the world is going on?

You did test too early. Wait until your period is at least 2 weeks late, then test using first morning urine. Know that no form of birth control is 100% effective, so any time you have sex, pregnancy is possible. Even if you use 2 or more forms.

Yes, you did the test too early. Also, you tested in the evening. Testing using first morning urine is more accurate. Testing later in the day can cause a false negative.

I would like to advise you that I used the pill exactly as directed as well as condoms. I got pregnant this way not once, but twice.
