    Adjustment for 1040NR
    Here's my situation,

I worked under OPT status on apr 2006 to dec 2006. I do not have any federal / state taxes deducted but social security and medicare taxes withheld.

    Now, my status is F1.

I understand if I intend to claim a refund for the social security and medicare taxes , I need to use 1040NR / 1040NR-EZ.

Is the total income are 100% taxable for 1040 NR/1040 NR-EZ ? Let's say my total income was 20,000, I have no scholarship grant or student loan interest for deduction, when I look at the Tax Table under 20,000, the tax is $2626. Is that mean I need to pay IRS $2626 since I do not have any federal tax withheld at first.

However, I make some tuition payment on 2006, how can I put in this adjustment?

    Thanks.

You claim the refund of the incorrectly-withheld Social Security and Medicare taxs using Form 843.

You get a personal exemption of $3,300 and perhaps a treaty exemption.

You cannot claim the tuition credit as a non-resident alien.
