Approximately two weeks ago my dog (mix miniature schnauzer) was diagnosed with Ehrlichia. I am having the hardest time getting him to eat again. All he wants to eat are milk bone biscuits and people food. I "REFUSE" to feed him peope food for two reasons. One, he gets diarrhea and two, I don't want him to get use to it because I feel he should be nourished with dog food. Any suggestions as to how I can get him to get his appetite back?

Most dogs want the wonderful treats once they get them, such as when sick, and you just have to set his dog food down and leave. He won't starve. Dogs know weak spots in their humans but they also know when to give up.

(I routinely give my dog tiny bits of egg, hamburg, or chicken, and broccoli, on top of her kibble. Once it's eaten off the top she looks at me for more and I ignore her, and eventually she eats her kibble. I stopped buying canned dog food years ago.)

He is sick.. give him what he will eat. Get him over his illness than worry about what he is going to eat.
