What does dating mean to you? And frankly I don't believe your mother is OK with you dating. I also don't think you understand what dating means.

I've said this before. The media has glorified romantic relationships. So children want to emulate these adult behaviors before they are ready. You are a child and not ready. Enjoy being a child a few years more and stop trying to grow up too fast. This is why you are scared to ask, because you are not mature enough to deal with it.

If you are scared to ask him and don't know what to talk about, you are years too young for "dating" (whatever you think that means). And I too believe your mum would be horrified if you think you are ready to date.

If your mom is OK with you dating, ask her what you should say to him.

Amy honey, give it a few years. Most 11 year old boys are not interested in girls, they are interested in xbox, football or soccer just yo name a few. My 11 year old son wants nothing to do with girls.

11 year olds are too young to be in boyfriend/girlfriend relationships.
