Femur and Humerus below 5th centile
    Hi,

I have a questing related to my wife's pregnancy. She is 36 weeks and 2 days. Had her regular visit with midwife yesterday. The midwife was concerned that she was measuring small and recommended a scan. The baby was measuring small <5% at 32 weeks too but we have been told that it is a small baby and we shouldn't worry. The scan yesterday demonstrated the same results. What's worrying me is that they haven't mentioned anything about potentially checking for downs syndrome.

We got the following results (at 36 weeks 1 day):

    BPD 90.7mm
    OFD 109.6mm
    HC 314.0mm
    TAD 92.4mm
    APAD 91.1mm
    AC 286.0mm
    Femur Length 62.8mm
    Humerus Length 54.1mm
    EFW 2142g

After doing some research online about the short Femur and Humerus, I understand these can indicate downs syndrome. The doctors didn't mention anything and have told my wife to come back next week to check the blood flow. They thought everything was fine other than that, although were considering inducing labour next week at first.

I was wondering if you could explain to me what the above results mean. Could it really be that the baby is just small. My wife was born weighing 2.6kg at 40 weeks. Her sister was born at 39 weeks weighing 2.7kg and her brother was born at 40 weeks weighing 2.8kg.

I am confused that DS wasn't mentioned to us. I understand the above results indicate soft markers.

    Thank you,

    Anton.
