Hi, I am Kabita, a married housewife from India. I have irregular periods, like once in every 2-3 month's gap. My last period was on 29th March , 2013 and still now I don't have my period. I am 34 + and planning to have baby now. So how do I confirm about whether I am pregnant or not by having irregular periods? I did the home pregnancy test on 09.05.13 but result came negative. What should I do? Please reply.

You don't mention your weight. If you are underweight, the body needs to sense that you can sustain a pregnancy. Irregular periods are common in both under and overweight women. It can also run in families. If you are overweight and have excessive hair you could be having difficulty getting pregnant because of a condition called polycystic ovarian syndrome. Keep actively trying to have intercourse and conceiving the natural way. Even though your periods are irregular, you can still conceive. Also, take a folic acid pill daily along with a multivitamin to prepare for the baby.
