Good evening. When I wash and flush the upstairs toilet, the basement floods
I have used my snake that I purchased a couple of years ago but I think I need a longer snake. It's just 25 feet. I need it to go further into the main pipe line. What do you think?

    Hi Debra

Fill a tub with water and drain it. If water floods the basement then your next step would be to find the MAIN DRAIN CLEANOUT and remove the plug/cap and snake the drain from the cleanout. If that fails, then you will need a longer snake, for sure!

For best results, keep water in the pipe at all times (run a faucet) so that you can actually SEE the clog when you hit it... water will bob up/down when you get into the blockage. When you finally clear the blockage there will be a big woosh and water will wash the blockage out of the drain and into the main in the street or septic tank.

    Good luck!
