Can someone be arrested or put in jail if they are in the witness protection program?

Yes they can... (be arrested I mean)

Yes, in fact, most of the people in the witness protection program are in Prison, there is one prison, ( at least 30 year ago) where almost 90 percent of the people in that prison where all in the program.

Being in the program gives you no extra rights

If a person is in witness protection of an ONGOING case, the prosecutor might ask that the charges be dropped depending on their severity. But being in witness protection is not a free ride to be a criminal.

Can someone be in the witness protection program for the rest of their life even though they were only a witness to a crime?

If someone has information about you and wants you to give them money for it can you go to the police about it?

Yes, of course, if you have proof.

But yes, blackmail only works against you if you let it. If you go to the police and report it, that should be the end of it... as Judy said, if you have proof.

Okay so if the prosecuter asks for the fines to be dropped that's okay but what if that person killed someone?

First, please don't keep starting new threads over the same issue. Your threads have all been merged. Second, if you want our help with your problem, just give us the details instead of asking vague questions that we have to respond to with general answers.

Bottom line is that a person in the witness program MAY be protected by those running the program depending on the nature of the case, the status of the case, their part in the case and the nature of their crime. There may be other factors involved, so any answers we can give are just speculation without knowing the specifics.

If you explain why you ask and what your part is in this as well as the background we can be more specific with our opinions. But since this is up to the prosecutor, we can't speak for them

You haven't provided enough information for anyone to give you advice about your particular situation.

We're not mind readers, we're not psychic. Tell us what's going on if you want an answer to your question. These one sentence posts that provide no actual info, aren't enough to go by. It's like someone posting "I need help" and then leaving. What kind of help? What's going on? It's not enough info, and that's what you've been doing.

Our hands are tied unless you start posting what's going on. Without more info, you won't get any answers that will actually pertain to what you're going through. So why bother asking?
