I am plumbing my bathtub with a single handle faucet and need to know if I have to put hammer arrestor with this installation?

Hammer arrestor goes on the supply lines before the valve. Is the wall still open or can you get at the valve from behind like in a closet. How do you know you have a hammer issue, is this an old install being updated

I am just remodeling my bathroom and I am installing a aquasource faucet and showerhead.The diagram thy show for the plumbing shows the hammer arrestors with a note saying "if needed".I need to know if I need to put them in and I had no issues before with the old faucet but I didn't have a shower before in this bathroom.

Arrestors are typically put on lines with quick closing action such as washing machines and possibly dishwashers. If you had no past issue, they will serve little purpose unless you plan to shut the shower very abruptly. I do not have them on any plumbing lines in 2 houses and have never had an issue. That said, some places with very high water pressure may.

If your house is under 35 or 40 years old chances are you already have air chambers,(shock absorbers) installed. By code wee were mandated to install , on all new construction, air chambers on both hot and cold supplies to each lavatory and the kitchen sink, You don not have to install them on your bathtub.
