I have a 1/2 Pomeranian and 1/2 chihuahua she is 5 years old she usually does really well going outside to pee but lately she has had accidents on rug in living room we have not changed our regiment on her potty schedule , my wife try's to take her out before I get home from work and my dog becomes stubborn and Won't go out for her , in fact if she goes to pick her up she will pee on my wife ? Even my step daughter will try but she consistently does same with her ? Been noticing lately even when I take her out she takes forever to pee ? Any answers or things we can try would be greatly appreciated

Is she in good health, verified by a Vet? It could be a bladder problem.

If you took forever to pee, I'd take you to a doctor to check if there is an infection. Please do the same for your dog -- time for a vet check!

I don't think a dog would suddenly turn stubborn. Why don't you want to get a health checkup for your dog?

As WG said - if you suddenly couldn't urinate I wouldn't think you had issues with stubbornness.

Dogs don't wake up one day and decide to not be house trained. She's an older dog that has a history of being house trained, so breed has nothing to do with it. This is either behavioral or medical.

Behavioral would be if there has been any changes in the home.. new dogs, new people, new routine, etc.

Bladder infections can cause a dog to have the sensation of needing to pee. A lot of times when animals are having bladder problems, they start to exhibit unwanted behaviors such as peeing in the house to get your attention that something is not right.

She doesn't pee when you take her out because obviously she has already pee'd.

Is she spayed? If not, older females are prone to pyometra, infection of the uterus. Dogs with this condition exhibit bladder infection-type problems SUCH as peeing inappropriately.

Bottom line is, in order to fix the problem, you need to pinpoint what the problem is. You need to take her to the vet for a urinalysis and/or culture to rule out infection. Spay her if she is not already spayed. If she still is peeing, than its behavior in which you will have to figure out what changes your home has undergone these past few days/weeks/months (however long this has been going on.)
