I have a 3 month old pitbull... How do I go about potty training him and make him understand basic commands like sit and stay?

Is this your first dog, or do you have some experience?

    Congratulations, by the way!

Here's a link to a sticky on our site that gives some very good advice on training your new puppy.

I have rescue dogs, I've had all types and sizes and dogs with all sorts of backgrounds. Two of my "steps" have pits - both great dogs, both have children.

All dogs need homes. I just wonder why "pits," with their reputations, are such poplular dogs - one of my "steps" pays triple what I pay for homeowners insurance, and that's not unusual. They just have such a bad rep I wonder why people seek them out.

I realize the other side is that an entire breed would have to be euthanized.

I know "Lucky" has pits - I'm interested in what she has to say, not from the "mean dog" standpoint but from the "reputation" standpoint and the problems involved with owing a pit.

I have always had GSD and I know how they are viewed.
