I have just installed a new deep well jet converter pump on my deep well. I primed it as instructed but when I put the gauge back on, there shows no pressure. There is no water in the bladder tank either. I can leave the gauge off and the water will shoot out of the top, making me think the pressure was OK. I put the gauge back on, and it just sits at 0! Help, I am a single mom with 3 kids and have had no water for 2 weeks! I know a little but as I changed everything myself, I just have no idea where to go no and I can not afford to hire anyone. Any suggestions would he appreciated!

Can you post of pic of your pump and how it is setup? Also, why did you change the pump?

Just to be clear, two pipes going into the well?

If you have pressure with the gage off and the gage reads zero when you put it back on I suspect a faulty gage. How do you know there's no water in the bladder tank? How did you check it? Do you have pressure to the house? Is there a shutoff valve on the line to the house? Back to you, Tom

There are 3 pipes coming from the pump. The one on top that has the gauge mounted, then the two in front that go directly into the ground to the well. I had to replace it because it stopped working completely. I had lost water for a day - shut off all power - went to hotel for the night then went back home, the water was working fine. Two days after that, it went out again and never came back on. I attached the only picture I have of what I have been working on. I am not at home so I can not get more at the moment.

I have 2 gauges, I tried both. After working on it a bit more yesterday, I was able to get about 8 psi reading on the gauge but it would not go any higher than that. I know there is no water in the bladder tank as it sits above ground, and it not bolted down. I can shake it, and its very easy to shake. There is also a faucet that is coming off the pipe that goes into the bladder tank, and I can not get water to feed from that faucet either. For some reason the pressure doesn't seem to be building enough to push water through that pipe into the bladder. There is no water at all on the property. I have tried everything I could possibly think of, even took off the sqare bold to the pipes in the ground to check for water there.. and it is all OK. Maybe I have an air leak somewhere?

If you have a leak, then you will likely lose prime between cycles. Check to see if the water is still in the impeller cage by removing the plug to the right of the pipe on top. Should be full of water. If not, then reprime and try it again.

I am assuming you simply did not have the gauge screwed in when you took that pic.

Those pvc unions might be good place to start looking for a leak. The suction line (pipe entering the center of the pump) is a good place to suspect leaks.

Did the new pump come with a new jet assembly to go in the well?

The water goes up and down in the pump. The water will over flow at times out of the outlet for the gauge (yes I had the gauge off when the picture was taken) then it will go back down for a few moments, then come back up. Took off the plug to the pipe going into the ground to check water level (guy at Lowe's suspected it could have been the foot valve and he explained to me how to check the water in the pipe) and it was holding water with no problem I added water to it, and it immediately over flowed. I went to Lowe's and got all new unions to replace them, and that actually helped a small bit, that is where I got the 8 psi on the gauge. Yes the pump came with a jet kit but this well has never had one added on to the pump. I was told that there is probably one under ground? Reason for that is because of the two pipes that go down into the well? I actually just replaced the pump 6 months ago back in November. And now I am having to do it all over again. Do you think once pressure is adequate the tank will fill with water?

In your case, with two pipes going into the well, there is a jet assembly in the well itself. People frequently put a new pump on with the old jet assembly in the well. It would seem that would work fine, but that is not always the case.

The tank is not the problem.

It sure sounds like something going on in the well. This is the kind of jet assembly I'm talking about. Did you get one of these with your pump?

There is something like that at the end of the pipes that go into the well. The one that is on the end of the pipes connect to the foot valve. I pulled the pipes today with help and saw one of the pipes had lost the clamp that was on it and it was loose. We reconnected everything and lowered the pipes back into the well. Still have the same problem. We were thinking maybe the well was getting low or out of water, but the pipes were wet as they came out with a depth of about 30 ft into the water. I ran out of time today because I have to work, but tomorrow I will be going to the house to add water into the pipes that we pulled, since there is now no water in them. I am hoping that by me adding the water, and that pipe on the bottom connected I will be able to get pressure.

The tank is not the problem.

I think I would just replace the pvc in the well with new pipe. Would be a cheap and simple undertaking and would remove any question about pipes in the well leaking.
