I am 50 & started perimenopause 4 yrs ago. In late Nov I started taking progestren only birth control pills after taking the 5th pill I started heavy vaginal bleeding that lasted until 4 days after I stoppeed taking the pills after 1 pack. Since stopping them in late Dec I have had 2 periods that have been 2 - 3 weeks long with moderately heavy bleeding & spotting between them. I had no problems with this before taking the pills. Is it possible my problem is a hormone fluctuation caused by the pills as my hormones are already fluctuating due to perimenopause? I have always had a high estrogen level.
