HR Representative Presence at Meeting about complaint
I filed a complaint against my Operations Manager at work and was brought in to "clear the air" and have it resolved internally without it being escalated to corporate, which was fine. However, it was myself, the Operations Manager who I filed the complaint against, and the General Manager. The HR person was at lunch and the GM simply said, "lets just do it." Should they not have waited for her to be there? Isn't that the whole point of having an HR person?

No, apparently the matter was resolved without the HR person being present. What is your concern about that person not being there? It appears he/she wasn't required to be there.

Depends on company procedure and policy. Probably the GM had discretion in the matter and didn't need an HR rep to witness.

I think it was more like I felt bombarded. Because they were just so eager to get it over with. It was like I was the bad guy.

Then you should have said NO, what did you say when they said to do it without them.
Was HR aware of this, have you since when to the HR and talked to them.

She didn't know they were going to do it without her no. She wasn't happy about it.

Would her presence have changed the outcome? Is this a Union job?

Its not a union job. Honestly I just feel like the managers do not know what they are doing. And I AM educated with a business degree. Its almost like the OM is looking for ways to keep me down. I prob sound paranoid but I hate the fact that I am working in a warehouse with a lot of college education

Was the meeting documented in any way? Is their a policy and procedure in your employee handbook about disputes in the workplace? What was the concern or conflict between you and the manager? If you get retaliated against for complaining, which you probably will this issue needs to be documented and what resolve has taken place. The issue is the important part of your situation, what was it?
