A jet leaves an airfield traveling due east at 1600 mi/h. A second jet leaves the same airfield at the same time traveling 1800 mi/h traveling north of the first jet. After half and hour how fast are the jets separating.

I don't find this to be a word problem. It appears to be a math problem. What is the formula you were taught in school?
