I would say slim to none - he undoubtedly has bills he needs to pay and he's counting on your rent to pay them. Have you attempted to negotiate with him or did you simply stop paying?

Do you realize that once he filed in court he might very likely be suing you for a lot more than back rent? Legal costs. It was very foolish to act 'shy' about the situation. Contact him NOW, tonight.

Your "shyness" has very well cost you a lot of money in fees and interest - plus an eviction. You have handled this badly up to now. Your only hope is to now approach him with the truth of your situation, asking for his patience and understanding.

A landlord is running a business. The landlord has expenses and your rental is needed to pay those expenses. So expecting a landlord to carry you is not a good idea.

Poverty is not grounds for avoiding eviction. At the hearing, unless you can come up with all you owe plus court costs, an eviction order will be issued. This means you will have a very few days to move or a sheriff will physically put you and your belongings out on the street.
