Our kitchen sink sprayer works fine but I cannot get the water to run through the faucet. How can I turn off the sprayer and get water back through the faucet.

There is a "diverter" device inside the main faucet that switches water flow from faucet to sprayer. From your description, it appears to me the diverter is stuck in one position. You will have to have somebody to take the faucet apart and to clean the diverter.
