Is there a reason you NEED to uninstall Internet Expolorer? Just set CHrome as your default browswer and use that.
You can have multiple browsers on your computer without conflict.. I have 5 and I use them all for various purposes.. and there are certain websites that will really only work right on Explorer.
IE is indeed tied in to quite a bit of the Windows OS. You never really end up removing it all the way though there are some utilities that do that.
It's removal would not affect MS Office unless you are using some advanced functions that require/use ActiveX. Chances are unlikely that you are doing this.
To "remove" IE from your XP PC you need to go to Start -> control panel -> add/remove programs -> on the left choose "Turn Windows Features on or off". Find IE in the list and un-check it. Voilą no more IE. Although NeedKarma is right when he said you never really end up removing it all the way, but it does hide the icons, and what not like it's not there so what's the difference?
Thank you all!
