Missing period and strange discharge - not pregnant
I never had regular periods until I went on 'the pill'
I stopped taking it about a year ago (terrible side effects!)and I've only had 2 light periods since.
I had light bleeding for about 10 days 3 weeks ago and more spotting a few days ago. Now it's become a brown discharge. I've taken a pregnancy test ( First Response) and it was negative and my husband and I are using condoms anyway. (besides - he works out of town!)
I have no other symptoms. Any thoughts?

NB: I am not a Doctor
This brown discharge is probably old blood. If this discharge occurred around 28 days from your last period it is probably your period. It could be because your period was so light and it is the old blood evacuating. Hormones, excessive dieting, underweight can be all causes for a light or no period. If this discharge has been ongoing for more than a week, I recommend you make an appointment with your doctor or gynaecologist for further investigation. If you don't think your were taken seriously or get brushed aside, see another doctor. Changes in discharge can point to more serious conditions. Better to have it checked out sooner than later in case it is anything more serious and if nothing else, to put your mind at rest. The unknown is always worse than the truth. Hope this helps.
