Can you disconnect the bladder tank from the water system after you shut the water off and drained the hot water tank.lino

Turn off the system. Drain pressure to zero by opening a low level spigot. Now you can disconnect the tank without getting wet. Wouldn't hurt to turn off the hot water heater, but not sure why you would want to drain it.
