    Red bowel movement
I have a 2 yr old daughter, who has been having 4 red stools today, she did have red juice this morning only about 4ozs. Can the red juice turn her bowels red? To me it's a lot of red in each bowel movement for the little bit of juice she had. I did take her to the emergency room earlier and they said its probably the juice, I feel it may be more then that. She always drinks red juice and her bowels were never red. I'm worried and looking to see if maybe I should get a second opinion. Thank You!

What about other foods? Some food colorings can change stool colors. For example, black cake icing can turn stools blue.

They said it's probably the juice... did she have any kind of cereal with dye in it?

So maybe it was the juice or something she ate. Why not just keep an eye on it and see if it clears up tomorrow? If they examined her and didn't think there was a problem, then just wait a little longer and see.

When she eats red foods it doesn't change her stools red, and she hasn't had any new red foods

Is she in pain? Any changes in behavior?

No cereal with dye in it... I am just going to keep an eye on it and see how it is tomorrow... with the little bit of red juice she had I thought it would be flushed out by now

No more red juice for a few days. See if it clears up.

Ya, the juice seems to be the only answer.

Wait and see what happens tomorrow, and no more juice for a few days. If the red bowel movements continue, go back to the doctor. That's what I would do.

That's what I am going to do, wait and see how it looks tomorrow and no red juice for a couple days... Just weird because red juice has never turned her bowls red before.
