    I am conncting a chandelier that has a black, white and a bare wire what do I do with the bare wire

    There is no bare ((ground) wire in the ceiling box? Only a 2 wire system? If so, wrap the fixture wire around the fixture to ceiling box mounting screw. Did you use a fan / fixture ceiling box or just the old box? If it was the old box, consider replacing it with an approved box rated for a lighting fixture.

    Use a grounding clip that attaches to the edge of box. These are available at any hardware store or big box store.
