    Reporting survey rewards
    Hi,
I am on an H1 visa and have a regular job. However I also got about $1200 in survey incentives/rewards last year and was sent a 1099 form from the survey company. How do I:
    1) report this income on my tax return? Do I have to show that this is "self-employed" income?
    2) Does it affect my status in any way if I am on H1 and also have a 1099 for the survey rewards?
    3) How best can I handle this since the survey company probably reported my rewards as "income"?

    Thanks for all your help!

If the Form 1099 shows the income as "other income" in Box #3, report it on Line #21 of Form 1040.

If it is in Box #7 of Form 1099 as "non-employee compensation", then Schedules C and SE will be needed.

In either case, it will not cauae issues with the USCIS because survey income is allowed under your visa.
