Do I need 1099 form compulsorily while filing Illinois state tax returns
I was a student intern at Northwestern University in summer 2012 for a period of 12 weeks starting May 13, 2012.

My employer(Northwestern University) has not given me any 1099 form. I need to file IL 1040 form for state tax returns and it says that "staple 1099 form and W-2". I have W-2 form and I do not have 1099 form but the state tax withheld information is in W-2 already. Do I still need 1099 form.

I'm a little confused. If you have a W-2 for that job, you wouldn't get a 1099 as well.

To answer your question, however, you don't have to have a paper 1099 to enter the amount on your 1040. It helps, but it's not required. 1099s are supposed to be mailed out by the end of Feb. W-2s by the end of Jan.

I am confused about this "Staple W-2 and 1099 forms here" which is written on the IL 1040 form. I know what I have to fill but since I do not have 1099 so what should I do?
