I have a Victor Woodburnng indoor furnace model 27-36 with a Honeywell damper model M836. The damper does not work very well. I would like to modify the damper to some other system even if it require some modification to the way it fits on the furnace.

For what is the damper used. Some pictures might help.

Isn't that a zone controller? What is it used for ?

It could be a zone controller but could even be used for a combustion air damper or something similar.
