I know this sounds kind of dumb, but I've been wondering for months! I'm in 6th grade, and the boy I like is in the other class. He stares at me all the time in Algebra (1 of our 2 classes) but won't talk to me. He seems upset that he isn't getting something, but when I offer to help, he just smiles and says he can handle it. He's always brushing up on my arm in the hallway and looks jealous when I talk to another guy. I'm super sure, but then for like 2 weeks he hardly notices me! In band class he's trying to find some way to talk to me about music (he even asked me why my part 1 sheet had a 2 on the 2nd page) sometimes he starts playing piano, then I play with him. He takes 2 1/2 week shifts. I just don't get it!

P.S.- I can't date until I'm 15!

Yes, he maybe likes you but you can't date until you're 15 so why bother?

Guys like sports of all kinds, muscle/hot cars, and adventure/thriller stuff. I had two brothers to clue me in, so if you have no males in your life to help you with those subjects, go to the public library and look at car magazines (Motor Trend, Car & Driver, etc.) and Sports Illustrated for beginners. The Young People's department has similar magazines to look at. Also, ask a librarian for help in finding other stuff that she/he knows guys look at when they come to the library. Read books by R. L. Stine and some of the Encyclopedia Brown series. Make a conversation move toward a boy who is also shy. You can be shy together and compare notes on what guys like. (Ask him, "What do guys like to talk about?") Most boys your age like action more than being quiet and talking, and like to be admired and complimented for their brain power or their athletic ability.

The only way to do so is to talk to them about guy stuff like sports or ask about school work and that will help you relax when you start talking to them

So, there's this guy who I really like, and I'm pretty sure he likes me. (as you know) It's almost the end of the school year. I want to keep in contact with him over the summer, but I don't know how to ask for his phone number. The most we say to each other is 4-5 sentances every time we bump into each other. Small things like, " Is your throat feeling better?" Help?? It's really awkward.

I'm not sure how old you are, but we still have yearbooks to sign at the end of school. Most students write their phone numbers in them to keep in touch over the summer.

Ask his mail id for study help. To keep in touch. May be later you can ask phone no.

I don't know how much study help you'll need over vacation so that sounds pretty lame to me. How about asking for his number because you'd like to stay in touch?

You need a reason to stay in touch, find that could be studies, hobby classes, sports etc.

So there's this boy, I REALLY like him. Lately, he's been acting up around me, but I can't tell if he just wants to be my friend. He drew a smiley face on my math paper and talks to me every day. We play piano together and he's touched my hand a few times. Yesterday, he asked me to come dance with him, but I couldn't tell if he was just being nice. His friends act up a little, but I don't know why. Does he like me, or is he just a good friend?

I would stop asking his friends about him. That's a recipe for disaster and will make him think you are stalking him.

EDIT: I just saw your other threads. You are in 6th grade. I think you are too young to date. This appears to be the fourth boy you've really liked in a very short period. How did the other "relationships" work out? I think you are thinking too hard about having a boyfriend, need to just relax and enjoy the company of boys in general. Not every person you meet is a potential boyfriend.

Actually, no. It's the same boy, but my questions don't really get answered and it leaves me wondering. Now, I'm in 7th grade and can date next year. (My mom says 14 at the youngest) I'm not trying to date yet, but I am working up to it. (Personally, I don't like it when people have muliple relationships by the time they're 13. I haven't been in any yet, and don't plan on it until I'm older.

All you have asked is does the guy you like likes you and then you said he did and he danced with you, and you finally got his number, and now you don't know what to do next,or something like that.

The answer to your question is talk to him about stuff on his mind and yours, and get to know each other because there is no special speech for such a thing. Like you have asked your friend, who probably knows even less than you, why not talk to your mom.

I am sure this young guy likes you but he doesn't know what to do either, so instead of wondering, start acting like friends and let the dating take care of itself. It will if you just chill and act natural.
