    Spotting off period
Ok so I am 17 and I have had my period since I was in 5th grade. Lately I have been having brown spotting with a little bit of red blood for 2 weeks now. I haven't had sex in over 1 year and this just started. I have been working out lately since I'm trying to lose weight and I've read that strenuous workouts lead to spotting. I don't know if I should tell my parents (they don't know I'm not a virgin) and they will kill me if they know. Please answer asap. Thank you

If I were you I'd speak to a Physician if for no reason than to rule out an STD.

I did do that 6 months after the last time I did anything but it came out negative. Thank you though

    Good, most people don't.

Then I would go back and ask why no period, just spotting, just to make sure there is nothing physically wrong.

Spotting can happen for many reason. There's really no way to even give you a guess why you're spotting.

I really would talk to a doctor about this. You don't have to tell your parents that you're sexually active, but I would advise that you do. If you choose not to tell them, just say that you're spotting, you're worried, and you need to see a doctor. The doctor cannot tell your parents anything you don't authorize him/her to tell them.
