    Disability and work comp.
Do I need to file taxes from my awarded back pay from SSD? I currently am receiving workers compensation (it offsets the pay I receive from SSD). I was previously led to believe I would not have to file taxes on SSD although I was asked by SSA if I wanted taxes withheld awhile after I had made a separate inquiry. If I do have to pay taxes, should I expect to file on the $12.00 benefit my son receives monthly from my disability? Any help or guidance is appreciated, thank you!

Large awards of years of back-due SSD becomes taxable due to the amount involved.
