Ceiling fan, fan works and light comes on but only for a few seconds and then shuts off

Does it reset itself? Breaker tripped? Could be a loose with that disconnects with fan torque. I'd start with the wiring in the ceiling box.

Is it possible you are using bulbs with to high of wattage?

I have a an unit with a thermo break that shuts the light when it gets to hot. Then comes back on after cooling. Put in lower wattage bulbs and problem stopped.
