How do I tell my mom I'm getting married to my boyfriend?
My mom hates my boyfriend. She thinks he is going to hold me back in life. But we love each other and have a son. I'm 20 and he's 22. Our son is 11 months old. And he is trying to join the military but they won't alow him to join fully because he is a dad and not married. I already talked to my dad about this and he thinks it's a good idea because he loves the military but my mom is stubborn and hard to change her mind. How do I tell her were getting married without making her mad. Additional info we've been together for almost 5 years

You're an adult and even are in a long-time relationship and are a mom yourself. It's time to act like an adult. Tell her simply and sweetly with no arguments, no apologies, no discussion.

First off you aren't going to make them do anything.

Second... as long as you move out from under their roof and stop eating their food... then its your choice to make.

You have to live with the consequences... and one of those are they might never like him. Its part of being an adult.

Particularly if their reasons for not likeing him are true and rea and not simply a misunderstanding.

Plan ahead. Will you be able to take care of the child on your own, on your soon-to-be husband's military income? Do you work? Who watches the child now and who would watch the child if your husband is way? Not saying don't do it, just saying do your homework now and plan for success. Fail To Plan-Plan To Fail.
