    Hi!
    My situation is as follows:

I was on F1 for 5 months from January until June, then on OPT from June to Oct then on H1B from Oct until December. How do I file my taxes? What forms do I need to file?

    Thank You!

If you are single, file as a non-resident alien, filing Forms 1040nr-ez and 8843 one last time.

If you are married, you can file jointly with your spouse, provided you wait until 1 June 2013 to file to meet the Substantial Presence Test.

Thank you for your response. I am single, but when I report my W-2 I would have social security taxes, medicare taken off for the period of Oct-Dec. How would I be reporting that? And would you recommend any tax software I could use that is good to use in situation as such? Thank You again for your help!

    Glacier prepares Form 1040nr-ez.

Otherwise, you have to prepare the return manually.
