    J1 tax return New York
    Hi there,

    I worked in NY last summer (2012) on a J1 visa.
    I now need to file a tax return before April 15th.
    I am wondering what forms I will need and where to send them to?
    I have my W2, but it is split into parts so any help would be appreciated.

    You need to submit Forms 1040nr, 8843 and 2106 (to claim daily living expenses) plus the NY state tax return.
