Can artificial sweetners break down into alcohol in the urine
All the sweetened food I eat has some form of artificial sugar, with many being "sugar alcohol". Would these register as an alcohol level in a urine drug test -- giving a "false positive" as over use of poppy seeds do for heroine?

This is an interesting question and one I can answer one way. Artificial sweeteners are indeed sugar alcohol but not the kind that does harm. It isn't broken down the same way in the body. If artificial sweeteners produced alcohol, then diabetics could not use them; they would interrupt kidney function (on a long term basis) for type 1diabetics, insulin dependent, which definitely is not a good thing.

So, no, artificial sweeteners would not give you a false positive in a urine drug test.
