    Torque specs
    14.5 horse briggs motor mod#287707 type#1236-E1 code#00041120 could someone please tell me what head&rod torque specs &valve lash are for this motor.

    Hi,
    See if the attached chart will help. I go with 110 in.-lb. for sump and rod nominally and 165-180 in.-lb. for the head. On OHV's, I go with 0.004-0.006 in. for valves. I use the opposite-step-opposite pattern on sump and head in three increasing amounts of about thirds. Here's the chart:

    PS It will not agree with me since the sump and rod have two types of screws now.
