What does it say in the will? If a trust was created it could be years away depending on how it is written.

An extremely simple small estate might squeak in at 2 months in some cases. Most take several months to a year, if in the mid range, with a house and a bank account, a boilerplate will, and no debts crawling out of the woodwork. Property and assets in other states or abroad, or a complicated will, or people who can't be located, possibly 2 years. You should get notices from the probate court and executor as steps are taken.
