Hi, I'm about 4 feet 11 in and 12 I am 118 pounds and I think I am fat and need to lose weight. Track is coming up and I do that sport but I need to be thinner and healthier for it! What do I do?

Exercise... you will be doing a lot of that... lay off the junk food and the calorie laden sports drinks and you will drop... but at that weight... you aren't fat just a little on the heavy side... DEPENDING... on how fit you are. Muscle mass is heavy for its volume... fat isn't.

Consider abandoning track, unless you really really want to do it. I think weight lifting in a circuit style is as good a weight loss/overall fitness plan you can get. Here's why lifting beats cardio, cardio (such as jogging or running) will boost your metabolism while you are doing it and it will soon go back to normal. Weightlifting will boost you metabolism for HOURS after you are done and provide a full body work out.

As for overall fitness, I do a circuit style weightlifting routine and jog very little, yet I still run a 6:03 mile. It will provide you a great cario work out as well as build strength.

As for diet, I'd just keep it simple and do the basics. No junk food and no carbohydrates four hours before bed.
