Deposit in my account from the US Treasury
I have a nearly $1500 deposit from the US Treasury in my checking account. I have already received my tax refund earlier last week and code on it is: 310 XXVA 1607

I have contacted my bank about it but haven't heard back yet. Any ideas? It says it is an education credit for VA upon goggling the code... I am NOT in the military but did recently graduate college and my father was in the military (my checking account lists my mother as a joint holder not sure that would make any difference).

Also closing on a new home construction at the end of this month and want to close this account in April as it is joint and open an new one at a new bank solely... I suppose I cannot do this until this situation is resolved now?

    Thanks all!

$1500 is about right for the education credit. Close the account and don't expect your bank to know what it means. Worst case - the IRS asks for it back someday. I think it is yours. You can see if you qualify for it on IRS.gov. It sounds like you do.

I would have to see your tax return to see if you are due any type of credit.
