    Stray black cat in yard
I don't know if it likes me but when it sees >ME< it rolls around and rubs it's face on my leg. Then it meows like it wants my attention. But I am not sure if it really likes me because it walks away. Maybe it was just checking it's territory but I've never seen it mark it. I think it it like a Bombay or something.

Cats are often quite friendly but then leave the minute you try to touch them. If it looks healthy and well fed, it isn't a stray, it just lives nearby. Please don't feed it! That often causes heartache for the owner.

Cats will hang around for attention, and when they've had enough they go home to their owner.

Sounds like it's a very tame cat, loves human affection. So pet it when it allows you to, and then let it go home when it wants to leave.

Yes, it likes you. It's rubbing it's scent into you, by rubbing it's head on you. It might already have a home. Please don't feed it; cause the old saying, "Feed a cat and it's yours".

IT IS A STRAY! If it wasn't I wouldn't of posted this thread. The cat is fed outside and it stalks squirrels. I fed it water and it liked it

    What is your question actually?

How do you know it isn't a stray? So you gave it water, and your point is?

Cats will stalk anything that moves.

    'The cat is fed outside'
That's not a stray. That is a cat with an owner who leaves him outside.
My parents had an outdoor cat who wandered a lot, and every few years someone would feed her, get her in their house, and then not let her out!
I have an outdoor cat, but mine stays in my yard!

Cats from wonderful homes will try and catch squirells, and birds, that is what they do. ( many) my favorite cat who could come in and out of the house, used to love to bring home trophies for me, (dead birds)

A stray cat is normally very skinny, not feed well and not in good condition.

Many people keep their cats outdoors, and the cat sort of comes and goes as it pleases.

Your not getting it. How do you know it is a stray? Just because it's outside doesn't mean for sure that it is a stray cat. This is all they are saying... how do you know for sure?

Than explain in a way that will make us understand. We can only go by what you write on this thread, we can't read your mind.
