    Child support liens on bank
    I was over due child support for 5000 all my tax went to help repay that I'm down to 2500 and have been paying monthly support for over a year no missed months do they have the right to take money from my bank at this point? I'm trying to save for a place and new car to provide stable environment for my child to gain custody please any answers?

    Yes, why do you feel that it is OK to save for a new home, if you have not paid past child support, you should be paying all extra money to it, then start saving.

    Yep, they can take the money you have to pay the debt. If you want to stop it, you need to go to court and ask for your support order to be modified or for an alternative payment arrangement to catch up.

    Many parents don't know that when they have a loss of income, they should go to court to ask for their child support to be abated (adjusted to their new, lower income) rather than just not paying it. Since you didn't do this, you will have to pay, but don't let matters get worse. Go to court and explain your situation and see fi the court will agree to a reasonable repayment plan.

    That money is also used to pay my rent and I have been paying more then court order for support to catch up that the court initiated on their own that they added extra to cut down on what I owe. Does that matter?

    A repayment plan has been incorporated with my monthly child support and have been paying it for over a year straight to pay child support and what I owe in weekly payment both in one by the court to the court. An all my taxes gone by the way does that make a difference I barely owe 2000 but have been consistent and responsibly on time with my payments that includes what I owe and monthly child support if that makes sense. My payments were raised by the courts to help cut into what I owe is what I'm saying and have been paying consistently

    I do not own a home I live under my parents roof an pay rent I'm saving to move out and rent my own place to provide for my son to make much more clear . Or I'll be stuck here

    Then ask them to release the funds and explain they are for basic living expenses. Show them you have been paying. If the court raised your child support it doesn't mean your paying anything off faster. You need to check on that to be sure. If the tagged on an extra amount to go to arrears then that is different then raising child support payments.

    I have received a letter saying they raised my child support to cut down what I owe on top of the regular monthly.this was before 2012

    You need to find out exactly what is going on. You should always keep all corespondence you get concerning this matter. Here is the problem. If your paying though a state agency they have a very poor record for doing the right thing. So when you say they raised you child support it sounds like there was an increase in the monthly amount and nothing to arrears.

    You have to be exact not I guess for a courtroom or when calling you need documantation to show how it is suppose to be. Otherwise you are at their mercy.
