Depends on if your new job offer amount was based upon your previous employers pay. It backs up what you claimed... I assume you were factual.
Background credit checks actually are very common these days.
Would your new job be dealing with money? Or monitary assets?
I will not be handling money. It is a senior communications position in a public transportation company. I believe they are trying to figure out an offer amount based on my previous year's pay. Last year my earnings were disappointing.
THey can also use that as proof positive of your last place of employment.
A surprising number of people pad their resumee's.
