What would I check when I get the code p1506 speed control malfunction. I have already checked for vacuum leaks

The diagnostics for that code are lengthy. You should either get a shop manual if you want to continue on your own. Or take it to an experienced shop so to save time and not replace parts that aren't going to fix the problem.
Ask about the shops credentials and warranty. The should be very willing to talk openly about themselves.
