Replacing a ceiling fan with light on 3 way switches
Box on electrical box has a black, white a red wire. But light only has black and white wires. Red white was connected to the blue wire in old ceiling fan I am replacing. Hooked up light to black and white wires but only one of the three 3 -way switches will control the light. Why are the other switches not contrillling the new light?

Normally, the blue wire in a ceiling fan is for the fan's light.

Therefore, I'd try hooking the red wire from the ceiling box (which was connected to the fan's blue wire) to the black wire of your new light fixture. White stays with white. The ceiling box's black wire should be capped off securely by itself.

This would allow the new light to work exactly how the fan's light used to work.

    Hope this helps,
