I had a six month lease. Upon moving out the landlord and I agreed to inspect the apartment and gave me my security deposit after he inspect the apartment for damages. Three weeks later he sent an email requesting that I need to pay 500 because he found scratches in the wood floor. When I left there were only one scratch and he wanted my daughter friend to find a kit and he took 150 from my security deposit. What are my rights? Am I responsible or not?

Did he sign off on the walkthrough. Did he give your deposit back with an itemized statement of what he withheld?

If so, you don't owe him anything.

He gave you all the deposit except for $150, with the understanding that someone would get a kit and fix one scratch the floor? Was the plan that you would get the $150 if the scratch was fixed? Was the scratch fixed as agreed?
