Max load bearing basement support post width using a beam
Purchased remolded home - want to finish basement - contractor repositioned the stairwell from top living area (ranch I level) -the old stair support posts were left in place.- problem is another post was added which made a triangle of post about 5 feet apart and not square to the room - this is where I need to position my wet bar - if one post was moved then the 2 post left could be incorperated into the bar counter - what is the max lenth between post using a support beam ( what would need to be beam's thickness & what materials that could be used?? ) help!!

Can you post a picture of what you have?

    What do posts support?

Can not get a visual of what you have and which post you want to remove.
